Why photos are almost always the problem
When a site is slow, it is usually not the server or the design: it is the images. A photo taken on a phone weighs 3 to 8 MB and gets uploaded as-is, when 200 KB would look identical on screen. Multiply that by the ten photos on a page and you know why it drags.
This tool does two things at once: it reduces the pixel size to a sensible width and re-compresses the image. The result is usually 70 to 90% lighter with no visible difference.
What settings to use
- Quality 78 is the point where almost nobody sees the difference. Below 60 it starts to show.
- Maximum width 1600 px suits almost any photo on a normal website. For a full-screen background image, use 2000.
- If the photo contains text or fine lines, raise quality to 85: compression is hardest on sharp edges.

The whole process happens inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, we never see your images, and there is nothing to delete afterwards. You can verify it: load this page, turn off your wifi, and the tool keeps working.
Common questions
Does it lose quality?
Some, by definition: compressing means discarding information. At quality 78 the difference is not visible on screen. Always keep your originals in case you ever need to print.
Can I optimise several photos at once?
Yes, drop in as many as you like. Each is processed and downloaded separately.
What formats does it accept?
JPG, PNG and WebP going in. Output is always JPG, which has the best weight-to-quality ratio for photographs and works in every browser.
What if my image has a transparent background?
JPG does not support transparency, so the background will come out black. For logos and icons with transparency, do not use this tool — those files should stay PNG or SVG.
